Sindhu will most probably face the winner of the Round of 16 match between 4th seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan and 12th seed Kim in the upcoming quarter-final.

PV Sindhu | Formative years and Training:

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu was born (5 July 1995) and raised by parents who have both been national level volleyball players. PV Ramana, her father, was a member of the Indian volleyball team that won the bronze medal in 1986 Seoul Asian Games. He also received the Arjuna Award in 2000 for his contribution to the sport. Mehboob Ali taught her the basics of badminton at the badminton courts of Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications in Secunderabad.
